Arsenal complete Lina Hurtig signing

Lina Hurtig signs contract

We are delighted to confirm the signing of Lina Hurtig on a permanent transfer. The 26-year-old Swedish forward joins us from Italian champions, Juventus.

Born on 5 September 1995, Lina began her senior career with Gustafs GoIF before joining Umeå IK in 2012. A move to Linköpings FC followed in 2017, with Lina helping the team to the 2017 Damallsvenskan title.

Lina swapped Sweden for Italy in 2020 with a move to Serie A champions Juventus, where she won two league titles, two Italian Super Cups and one Coppa Italia during her time in Turin.

She made her full Sweden debut back in 2014, and has since won a total of 58 caps and scored 19 goals for her country.

“It feels so great – I'm very happy to be here,” said Lina. “I've always, always wanted to play in England, and I've always been interested in English football, so it’s super exciting for me to be here. I know Arsenal are a great club, with great players and lots of quality, so I think I will enjoy it here.”

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall added: “Lina is an excellent forward who will bring power and dynamism to our game. She has shone in the Champions League and international tournaments and we are delighted that she will be lining up for Arsenal moving forward.”

Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley said: “Lina was a key target for us this summer so we are pleased to have completed this signing. She is exactly the right profile of player for Arsenal and will add quality and experience to our squad.”

The transfer is subject to the completion of regulatory processes.

Jordan Nobbs

After missing out on the Women's Euros squad due to injury, Jordan Nobbs has been renamed in the Lionesses squad for September's World Cup qualifiers.

Our midfielder currently has 67 senior caps for England, having represented her country since U17 level. Alongside Beth Mead, Lotte Wubben-Moy, and captain Leah Williamson, Nobbs is part of the 23-woman squad that will face Austria and Luxembourg on September 3 and 6 respectively.

Following a victorious summer at the Euros, Sarina Wiegman's side will be looking to secure a place for next year's World Cup, which takes place in Australia and New Zealand. Our players will join their England teammates at the St George's Park camp on Sunday, August 28.
